Nature History Agriculture
Our soils are those of an ancient Pleistocene sea: fossil clays, silt and mineral salts nourish our fields.
The Romans had already identified the land of today’s Allerona as particularly fertile. In our farm there is the archaeological site of Sant’Ansano (visits can be scheduled anytime).
Olive trees, vines and cereals have always been grown here; ancient agricultural traditions are improved by modern technological tools to enrich the quality of our products.
A family story
The farm sprang from the passion of its founder Fausto Macchi. Macchi’s family, originally from Tuscany, has been rooted in agriculture since immemorial time.
Our products
Grapes
We produce white grapes according to the Production Regulation of the “classic” wine of Orvieto (Grechetto, Trebbiano Toscano and Trebbiano Procanico, Verdello, Malvasia and Vermentino grapes) and red grapes of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Extra virgin Olive Oil
Our groves are made up of Moraiolo, Leccino, Frantoio, Leccio del corno cultivars, in the percentages established by the DOP Umbria – Colli Orvietani Production Regulation (so called “disciplinare di produzione”).
Emmerus monococcus
Although today it is rarely cultivated due to its poor agronomic yield, Emmer monococcus, also known as small emmer, is the progenitor of all cereals.
It is one of our products of excellence, some of which we process into flour and pasta.
